Power Lines and Electrical Substations
IR scans of electrical substations and overhead power lines can help identify issues associated with bushings, ground and pole transformers, disconnects, and line damage associated with broken/cut strands.
Prior to conducting an IR scan, it is important to know the age of components, current/known challenges, safety, and system load. It is also important to have a load of at least 40% in order to adequately detect possible anomalies.
It is important to note, IR scans can be negatively affected by cloud cover, wind, sun position, and other environmental/material factors.
